The Power Of Produce (POP) Club is a nationally recognized kids program that started at the Oregon City Farmers Market in May 2011 to empower kids to make healthy food choices and introduce them to where their food comes from. The Power of Produce initiative seeks to develop the next generation of healthy eaters. Help empower your kids to make good food choices! Kids can join the club anytime.
►Kids ages 3-12 can sample a seasonal fruit or vegetable at the Mill City Farmers Market’s information booth, located in a green tent in the center of the Chicago Mall
► At Mill City Farmers Market PoP runs at every market all season long (including winter markets)!
► No cost to participate
► Program includes PoP punch card and weekly $2 market token to spend on market produce
In addition to PoP, kids of all ages are invited to participate in our other kids’ activities based on food, nutrition, and farming. You can find activities such as storytelling hour with the Guthrie Theater every first Saturday of the month, mini farm with historic Oliver H Kelley Farm every second Saturday of the month, weekly free cooking demonstrations, live music, and more! For the month of October, kids ages 3-12 will earn a $5 voucher to spend on bountiful fall fruits and veggies at the market by tasting a local, seasonal vegetable sample. Samples are at our info booth in the center of the market on the Chicago Mall. This month $5 PoP vouchers are sponsored by Chipotle Mexican Grill.
