Note: 2021 was Shahiya Chutney’s final season at Mill City Farmers Market. During the winter of 2022, Ibrahim and his wife Alyson purchased a farm in Washington to fufill their dreams of homestead farming with their children.

Shahiya Chutney blends tons of love and fresh ingredients to take you around the world in a single bite. Owners Zahra and her son Ibrahim bring their family recipe influenced by Eastern tradition and fused with flavors from the heart of Oromia. The powerful ingredients in this small batch hot sauce come from both local Minnesota farmers and family in Ethiopia–mostly because some spices, such as berbere, sourced from Ethiopia are more flavorful. Ultimately the pair are planning to replicate and make their own berbere here in Minneapolis using traditional methods.

Shahiya Chutney, like the Mill City Farmers Market, is working to create a community based on diversity, sustainability and strong community values.

The integrity of our products comes from decades of traveling and influences from eastern traditions. Our family ingredient has traveled a long way and is finally ready to be shared.
