Mill City Farmers Market values our volunteers as significant members of our team. Join your friends and neighbors in educating the community and supporting “healthy foods, local farmers” with our volunteer opportunities below!
Zero Waste Educator
Help us educate MCFM visitors about compostable plastics, manage composting stations and collect data for the Zero Waste program! Everyone from Master Recyclers to beginners are welcome and encouraged to participate in our efforts by volunteering as a Zero Waste Educator. There’s no need to be an expert, we train volunteers on the basics at the start of each shift. Shifts are from 10am to 1:15pm every Saturday of our outdoor season.
Perks for volunteers:
- Ability to use MCFM’s drop-off bin for home compost (exclusive for volunteers)
- Volunteer 3+ times per year and receive $15 in tokens to shop the market
- Volunteer 6+ times per year and choose a complimentary MCFM t-shirt, tank top, hoodie, hat or tote bag!

HARVEST SOCIAL Planning Committee
Looking for ways to be more involved and support your farmers market? Do you want to meet some fun, creative people who are passionate about supporting local foods and farmers? Join our Benefit Planning Committee! The Harvest Social is our annual fundraiser, raising nearly 1/3 of our budget and directly benefiting our farmers. It is always a highlight of the summer, featuring a delicious, harvest meal prepared by our market chefs.
The benefit committee meets monthly March through August, and there are lots of ways to be involved. If you are interested in helping out, please email the market’s Development Manager Amy Britt at amy@millcityfarmersmarket.org. Thank you!
Volunteer at the Farm
Our vendor Women’s Environmental Institute is a volunteer-led nonprofit farm. They’re always looking for new volunteers to help at markets or to year-round help at the farm in North Branch harvesting, weeding, seeding and more ways to get your hands in the dirt! Learn more at: https://w-e-i.org/volunteer-faq/
For other opportunities to volunteer at other local farms (including more MCFM vendors!), join the Farm Buds Facebook Group and/or complete their sign up form here.
If you have any other skills that you would like to lend to the market, please contact us at info@millcityfarmersmarket.org, and we will be in touch about other volunteer opportunities!
