Founded in 2003 and an early leader in Environmental Justice work in Minnesota, the Women’s Environmental Institute is a research, education, and activism hub designed to create and share knowledge about environmental issues and policies relevant to women, children and identified communities especially affected by environmental injustices.
WEI promotes agricultural justice, organic and sustainable agriculture and ecological awareness, and supports activism that influences public policy and promotes social change. WEI operates Amador Hill Farm & Orchard, a 40-acre certified organic education and demonstration farm in North Branch. The WEI farm team and volunteers grow a wide variety of seasonal market vegetables, culinary herbs, and heirloom apples. Learn more at w-e-i.org.
“Farm Programs at WEI continue to serve our rural and urban communities by producing nutrient-rich, organic, locally grown vegetables and fruit as a strategy for environmental justice, regenerating the soil and regenerating human health.”
