Note: 2022 was Wild Sorrel’s final season at the Mill City Farmers Market. Barbara will be pursuing her passion of fine art in the coming years and we can’t wait to see where it takes her.
Wild Sorrel is a Stillwater-based body care company specializing in products made with maple and foraged botanical ingredients, including maple sap vinegar, maple leaf oil, maple sap and maple syrup. Owner and maker Barbara Koppang works at Horner’s Corner maple syrup farm where she sources maple ingredients for Wild Sorrel products.
Growing up, Barbara learned about plants and foraging from her father who worked as a naturalist. She has been foraging and making plant-based skincare and herbal remedies for decades. In 2021 Barbara founded Wild Sorrel as a fresh start after losing her husband.
“My life was put on hold for a period of 10 years while I cared for a husband and daughter, who both had a rare disease. I spent those years caring for the medical needs of my husband, then my oldest daughter and then helping to raise my grand children while my daughter recovered. Since my husband passed away, I am working to find ways to begin again. I recently returned to Minnesota to start over.” – Barbara Koppang
You can find Wild Sorrel products at Horner’s Corner’s booth at the market every Saturday.
