In addition to cash you can also pay with your credit, debit or SNAP/EBT card at MCFM. Stop by the Market’s Information Booth to purchase market tokens with your card and/or get EBT double-matching.
SNAP / EBT Market Bucks Double Matching
Spend $10, Get $30 with Market Bucks
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients are welcome to use their EBT card at the Market’s Information Booth and will receive a double match (buy $10, receive $30) each market day, year-round!
Through Hunger Solutions Minnesota’s Market Bucks program, we are able to match EBT transactions 3:1 up to $10. In other words, for the first $10 in market tokens purchased on your SNAP/EBT card, you will be given an additional $20 in Market Bucks for free!
Market Bucks can be spent the same way and are subject to the same restrictions as SNAP/EBT tokens, but they DO have an expiration date, unlike the $1 tokens which never expire.
The same rules apply when using your SNAP/EBT card at farmers markets that do at any other merchant. SNAP tokens and Market Bucks are not eligible for ready-to-eat/prepared foods or non-food items (art, flowers, soap, etc).
SNAP tokens and Market Bucks are valid for produce, meat, eggs, dairy, breads/bakery items, honey, jam, edible plants and packaged foods intended as take-home groceries. Vendors cannot issue change for SNAP tokens or market bucks.
If you received a Market Bucks Gift Certificate please bring it to the info booth for market staff to exchange it for market bucks! Please do not give these gift certificates directly to vendors. Learn more about Market Bucks on Hunger Solutions’ website.
Minnesota was the first state to fund a SNAP Incentive Program, offering matching for low-income families and individuals to shop at farmers markets. Click here to read more!
