Because we are unable to ensure the safety of our staff, vendors and customers we have decided to cancel Saturday’s market on May 30. If you have preorders to pick up, our vendors will be in-touch with more information soon regarding alternative pick-up options. We are also working on ways to distribute perishable items that have already been harvested.
We understand the market’s position as a place to come together as a community and are sad to be unable to fulfill this role at this time. Our hearts are full of grief, anger and so many more emotions as we continue to stand in solidarity with the Black community and continue to demand justice for George Floyd.
“I think America must see that riots do not develop out of thin air…Certain conditions continue to exist in our society which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard.
And what is it America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the negro poor has worsened over the last twelve or fifteen years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity.”” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
