About

Urban Roots, formally the Community Design Center of Minnesota, is a 44-year-old nonprofit organization with the mission to build vibrant and healthy communities through food, conservation, and youth development.  We offer paid internships to teens from the East side of St. Paul in the areas of urban agriculture, conservation, and nutrition. The internships give economically disadvantaged youth a place to learn through hands-on activities and education, to contribute to their community, and to navigate life in a meaningful way.The teen interns help grow and maintain our 6 gardens, in which we practice 100% organic and sustainable growing methods for a wide variety of herbs, vegetables, and flowers.  Look for us at the Mill City Farmers Market in September!
