Gorkha Palace is a Nepali, Indian and Tibetan restaurant in Northeast Minneapolis, bringing farm-to-table momos and seasonal curry to the market each week. Chef and co-owner Rashmi Bhattachan can often be seen foraging or shopping farmers markets for seasonal, local ingredients. Gorkha Palace also sources meat and dairy from local, organic and sustainable farms, including Ferndale Farms for their turkey momos.

Gorkha’s veggie and turkey momo dumplings have been tremendously popular at Mill City Farmers Market. In fact, because of encouragement received at the market over 10 years ago, Rashmi was able to open her very first brick-and-mortar restaurant on the other side of the river in Northeast.

Rashmi grew up in the mountainous city of Pokhara in Nepal. She is passionate about cooking and loves to share her culinary delights with family, friends and loyal patrons. Her passion for cooking was instilled in her by her grandmothers. Rashmi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management and a Masters Degree in Business Management. The booth is also staffed by Rashmi’s sister Rachana, brother-in-law Gyan and other members of the “Gorkha Palace family.”

Gorkha Palace is named after an ancient historic palace that sits atop a hill in Nepal. From the palace you can see the majestic snow-capped mountains and the captivating rolling green valleys that will take one’s breath away. Visiting Gorkha Palace at the Market brings as you journey across the globe to mystical Southeast Asia!
